Efficiency is the key indicator in determining your progress. It is calculated using various parameters. The calculation system is based on the ELO algorithm used in chess to rate chess players. Therefore, it is very accurate, especially for Listening. Currently, none of our competitors can deliver such accuracy.
Efficient time is net time multiplied by the efficiency indicator. Net time is the time you actually spent on a task. It does not include the time when you interrupted the task to answer a phone call or to drink coffee. Then, the efficient time is summed up individually for each of your skills and you get two accurate indicators: the level of your skill and the time spent on it. It's unlikely that anybody else could offer you something like this.
You probably selected letters by retyping. If you retype too much, the system reduces the efficiency more than for using Tips. Our advice: don't rush to get 100 % efficiency by any means. You are learning a language, not taking an exam just to check the checkmark. If you don't know what you should write next, have a couple of attempts, and then click Tip and continue. You’d rather take the lesson again in one or two days' time.
Sometimes it happens. Try to choose a lesson easier or try not to finger through the letters when typing. In other words, please, don’t try to cheat the learning process.
Information appears in this section after you complete 3–4 lessons. The system has to adapt to you. The system accuracy will grow with each of your actions.
The point is that a full command of any language comprises four skills: listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. This is the point of view of modern linguistics. As you see, the list does not include separate grammar skills, while 10 years ago it could be present in the systems of training and testing, as a separate branch. And rightly so, it is not. Grammar knowledge is not necessary as it is, but in the application to these four skills.
These 4 skills have almost nothing to do with each other. This means that the ability to read in English does not go in your ability to speak and hear. The ability to express thoughts in writing can only help a little in the development of speaking, but cannot help listening.
The trouble is that most of us want to watch movies in the original, understand the songs and talk at the native level, but instead we are only able to read using a dictionary or do “fill the gaps” grammar exercises.
And now ask yourself in what area of life you will be able to apply these skills. Will you ask your interlocutor to offer you four possible answers? Or give you a chance to think for five minutes with a dictionary for its production?
So the problem does not lie with us but with teaching methods. In school we are taught to read, write and speak a little. Listening is generally not applicable. And the fact that you read at advanced level, and listen, for example, at pre-intermediate, is an absolutely normal picture for all of us.
Thus, let’s do proper exercises that improve active grammar, speaking and listening skills other than your vocabulary and ability to read only.

Add your friends and students in order to foster their learning and sharing the results with one another. You may observe your friends depending on the number of the lessons done over the last month. This is the easiest way to share the results with one another. You may compare your results with your friends’. You friends may foster your to learn Russian.
After creating an account, go to the page “Friends” and type in your friend's name in the ‘find a friend’ field.
If you want to invite your friend to learn Russian and know your friend's e-mail or their Facebook account, select “invite a friend”.

Now you can make yourself learn Russian! In order to do this, add “Objective” and define its parameters. After that you will be able to track major objective landmarks in your feed and receive reports, when the objective is reached. The objective is active for one month. Your friends can track your intermediate results. However, you may disable this option in profile settings.
Objective is designed in the way that you can't delete it unless their effective date is over. The effective date is indicated while setting up the objective.
The task plan has a small button in the upper right corner. Before cutting a lesson, specify the reason for cancellation. Whatever the reason, we recommend that you only do it as a last resort.

Of course. We'll take, for example, the model "She is going to the movies. And him?" - "He is also going to the movies". Now a question for you: "They are going to the theatre. And you?". The object (theatre) changed, and so did the pronoun in the question (and you?). The answer "You are also going to the theatre" doesn't work, because you need to imagine that someone asked you this question, which means you're answering that person, not speaking abstractly. Therefore, the correct answer will be "I am also going to the theatre".
This way we compel you to not only react properly to a question, but also to develop active grammar on a particular topic. In this example the topic is conjugation of the verb "идти" (to go [by foot]/walk).
We intentionally hide the translations, because we want you, even for a little while, to immerse yourself in the language you're studying. Nevertheless, there are translations. They appear in the lesson log after answering question 4.. Until then, try to guess the meaning without a translation. This will be more useful.
You're right to do so. That's the best way to do Active Grammar. It allows you to completely stop relying on reading and in doing so, to activate your listening and speaking skills. Just keep in mind that this mode is harder. Before turning it on, you should go through 3-4 exercises in simplified mode to understand the logic thoroughly. You can turn this mode on before starting the lesson in the Settings menu under the "Voice" option. It looks a little different, but the idea is the same.
Each translation you add to the system through the Warm up or Writing exercises is checked by our experts. In this exercise you only see approved versions. The avatars show which user first offered this variation. Think of this as sort of a wall of fame, if you like.
This happened because you hit Enter at the end of the sentence. First hit spacebar, and then a message box with a "Guess another version" button appears.
The answer time can be increased in the exercise settings. The Settings button appears when you move the cursor on the screen. We recommend setting the answer time as low as possible, so you feel the time crunch. This is useful in developing fluency in speech and articulation.

In this exercise your task is to remember, to the extent possible, the original key phrase of the lesson, which is why the key phrase is what is shown.
